CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT
MAKING A DIFFERENCE DAILY
The Gap Infrastructure Corporation is a major contributor to the South African housing industry’s value chain. Materials and labour are sourced locally where possible, often injecting millions of Rands into communities.
We believe in giving back to the communities from where we draw our workforce and who give us reason and opportunity to fulfil our mandate and motto of “Changing Lives”.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND SPONSORSHIP
- Improving living conditions
One instance of reaching out to improve the way communities live took place in the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipal area of Upington. We completed stand pipe installations and water meters to all 324 erven that form part of the Smarties 324 project. Much planning and labour have finally paid off and we were able to provide a stand pipe and metered water to each home in a community that had been without running water for 10 years.
- Food parcels
We have been involved in SPCA food deliveries and also various food parcel drops including:
– Partnering with the Rotary Club of Klerksdorp to distribute over 1 000 meat parcels to old age homes, shelters and orphanages in the area.
– A meat drop for the Atamelang Shelter.
– Partnering with Rotary Club Kerksdorp for a meat drop at the Triest Training Centre for people with Intellectual Disabilities.
Most of our staff took part in a 60 km walk to raise awareness for Movember during November. Many have also participated in building, painting an renovating various homes and NPO structures in local communities.
SAVF Rethabile Child and Youth Care Centre, in Klerksdorp improves the lives of 150 children through intensive physical, social and psychological services. 24 of the children live in the centre. We refurbished all the kids’ bedrooms with beds and bedding, gave the walls a new lick of paint and made a happy, comfortable dining area for them.
- Winter blanket Drive
We were privileged to provide the much-needed support to various families in Emalahleni and the Northern Cape region by donating a total of 2500 blankets and PPE in a bid to continue making a meaningful difference in the communities we operate in.
